We Start with What's Important...You!

We take great pride in portfolio management.  Consequently, no investment manager can manage a portfolio effectively without first establishing an investment objective and plan.  At the onset of your relationship with Hodos Wealth Group, we want to both discuss your investment goals for the funds to be managed and develop a comprehensive strategy that couples your objectives with capital market assumptions.  This will serve as a starting point, and we will constantly monitor your investment portfolio to make sure it is aligned with your objectives as they change.  No financial plan or investment strategy is static.  As your strategy and portfolio needs change, we will be with you every step of the way.

Our Methodology

Our portfolio management involves the use of individual stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), individual corporate bonds, and occasionally an actively-managed mutual fund.  When deciding which securities to use and when, we believe that macro analysis of the economic/business cycle coupled with fundamental analysis of individual securities is critical to investment success.  We frequently use low- cost exchange-traded funds (ETF) to gain exposure to certain indexes, sectors, styles, etc.  Individual company stocks are included in the portfolio when we identify a favorable long-term investment narrative or a fundamentally undervalued stock given the current environment.  When fixed income (bonds) is used in a portfolio, we select securities based on creditworthiness, interest rate sensitivity, and yield.  When purchasing individual corporate bonds for a portfolio, we buy investment-grade bonds, and we plan to hold them until they mature (i.e. they pay back the principal).  We also gain fixed income exposure via exchange traded funds.  With these investments, we tend to be a bit more tactical with respect to the interest rate and credit environments.

Collaborative by Design

As part of our portfolio management process and plan, we are mindful of tax implications created by portfolio management.  We do our best to try to minimize tax drag on taxable accounts (i.e. non-retirement accounts) with after-tax total return in mind.  We will work with you and your tax professional to customize your portfolio and strategy.  No matter what stage of the investment lifecycle you are in (i.e. accumulation or distribution), we strive to make sure your portfolio is working for you.
